CAE analyses are today focused in INDESIT on product performances improvement; most of analyses are CFD and/or thermo-mechanical.
INDESIT oven are really close to the project optimum and so structural changes can heavily affect the overall performances related to transportation. In fact, according to the INDESIT standards, the product with packaging has to pass several drop tests that represent the complete range of accidental impacts during transportation.
This papers refers to and optimization activities split into 2 steps: innovative structure verification and packaging optimization, both of them considering the drop tests validation protocol.
The goal is to explore new cost saving areas and to improve the effectiveness of the packaging.
The FEM model has been developed taking into account the impact phenomena complexity and the oven components failure modes; several numerical advanced features has been implemented.
